Dubai - Mubasher: Engineering Contracting Company (ECC), in collaboration with the Dubai Municipality, became the main contractor of the world’s largest 3D printed project, which broke the Guinness World Record.
The largest 3D printed project in the world is situated in Al Warsan, spanning over 640 square meters, where it will be used as an office with two levels, with 9.5 meters in height.
Aiming to create an efficient development in line with Dubai’s new futuristic vision, the project will become the biggest hub of 3D printing technology by 2030.
The project has been printed using locally-sourced materials and only one machine, according to a press release on Wednesday.
On this occasion, the CEO of ECC, Kareem Farah, said, “Challenging projects are a cornerstone of ECC and what we are truly known for in the construction market. We pride ourselves on innovative, never-been-done projects and executing them to the best of our ability. The team working on the project have outdone themselves and we are exceptionally proud of each one of them.”
Sister companies of ECC Group, including Abanos Interior Fit-out and Joinery, Prime Metal Industries (PMI) and Prime Ready Mix (PRM), have been appointed as subcontractors for the supply and installation of wooden doors, glass, aluminium panels and manufacturing of special concrete, respectively.
“We were able to attain this milestone due to the commitment, hard work and relentless perseverance of the entire team working on it along with the immense resourcing support from the head office,” project manager, Ali Ahmed Mustafa, added.
It is worth pinpointing that the project has undergone extensive “trial and error” testing regarding structural integrity, extreme weather, as well as the topography of the land and required innovative solutions.
Looking ahead, construction cost, material waste, and labour cost could be reduced by over 50%, 60% and 50%, respectively.
