Dubai – Mubasher: The value of Dubai’s non-oil trade with Qatar reached AED 15 billion ($4.1 billion) during 2016, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, director of Dubai Customs, said.
The UAE ranked third in the efficiency of customs procedures index, according to a report by the World Economic Forum, Musabih added.
A statement noted that the Mirsal 2 system and Authorised Economic Operator Programme have been developed to provide advantages to 15 local and international companies, supporting the growth of foreign trade and the recovery of other economic sectors, especially tourism.
GCC countries imported 75% of Qatari non-oil products in March 2017, with the UAE ranking as the second-biggest importer at a share of 31.6%, according to a statement by Qatar Chamber.
In July 2016, the UAE’s Federal Customs Authority announced that the country’s direct foreign non-oil trade stood at AED 269.5 billion in the first quarter in 2016.
