Dubai – Mubasher: Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE's vice president, prime minister, and Dubai's ruler, launched the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub and the new e-commerce zone within Dubai South’s Logistics District.
The Mohammad bin Rashid Aerospace Hub, formerly named the Aviation District, is designed to create an effective value chain for the aerospace sector with total investments of AED 17 billion, Arabian Business reported on Thursday.

It will also help in stepping up the gross domestic product (GDP) contribution of advanced industries to the GCC emirate’s economic growth.
Established over an area of 6.7 square kilometres, the aerospace hub comprises a commercial strip, maintenance and technical support, business aviation, education and R&D.

Aerospace Hub is home to a five-star VIP Terminal facility which hosts some of the world’s leading private-jet operators.
Sheikh Mohammed also witnessed the launch of EZDubai, an e-commerce zone within Dubai South’s Logistics District set to unlock vast potentials in online commerce.
The e-commerce zone is built over an area of 920,000 square metres.

It will offer a range of logistics facilities and business solutions designed for startups, SMEs, innovation labs and incubation centres to support local, regional and trans-continental businesses serving both business-to-business (B2B) and end consumers.
It also has six dedicated areas providing a total in excess of 550,000 sqm of a leasable area for e-commerce and similar businesses.
It is worth noting that e-commerce in GCC and Egypt is expected to hike to $24 billion by 2022, from $7 billion.
