Dubai’s RTA, Careem launches JV

UAE – Mubasher: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a joint venture (JV) with UAE-based ride-hailing company, Careem.

The new company, Hala, will enable customers to book Dubai Taxi using the Careem app, according to a statement released on Thursday.

“We are very excited to see Hala officially launch today. It is a milestone moment for the industry, with the public and private sectors coming together to bring ride-hailing tech to everyday taxis,” managing director of Careem Gulf and Pakistan, Bassel Al Nahlaoui, said.

Hala increased the fleet of Dubai taxis on the Careem app to more than 5,500, which makes up 50% of the RTA’s taxi fleet.

"Our vision is for Hala to become synonymous with the smart way to move. Economic, available - Hala exists to provide an innovative approach to travel, unlocking this wonderful city for the people,” Hala’s CEO, Clemence Dutertrem, said.
