Dubai’s RTA opens two major bridges

Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Saturday has inaugurated two major bridges in the UAE in a bid to ease Dubai Trading Center traffic.

Located at Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, the first bridge has two lanes stretching in each direction, while the second one-lane bridge extends from Zabeel Street to the direction of Sheikh Zayed Street, RTA said.

The bridges would ease the traffic flow headed towards Al Karama and the World Trade Center junction in the direction of Sheikh Zayed Road.

The tunnel in both directions is expected to be opened in the second quarter of 2018, the Emirati authority added.

“The intersection of Sheikh Rashid and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Streets is a key part of a big project for improving Al Shandagha roads network,” RTA director-general Mattar Al Tayer said.

The project is part of RTA’s strategic plan to improve roads, bridges, crossings and underpasses in order to be able to accommodate the growing traffic flows across the UAE, Al Tayer added.

The authority did not disclose the cost of the project.
