Dubai’s inflation falls to 1.15% in September – DSC

Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell to 1.15% in September, from 2.20% in August, according to a recent report released by the Dubai Statistics Centre (DSC).

The prices in the food and beverages sector rose 3.1% by the end of September, compared with the same month last year.

Tobacco products’ prices jumped significantly by 78.5% year-on-year in September, the emirate’s statistics agency said.

Dubai’s inflation rate increased to 110.12 points in September, compared with 108.87 points during the same period of 2017.

Earlier this year, the UAE introduced a 5% value-added tax (VAT) on sales of goods and services.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expected inflation in the UAE to stand at 3.5% this year and 1.9% in 2019.
