Dubai – Mubasher: The annual inflation rate for Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Dubai rose 2.1% in 2017, according to a report released by Dubai Statistics Centre (DSC).
Last year, the prices of miscellaneous goods and services, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, and transport segments surged 11.18%, 9%, and 6.11%, respectively, the DSC’s data showed.
The prices of education; restaurants and hotels; and Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels increased by 4.88%, 2.7%, and 0.88%, respectively.
Meanwhile, the prices of recreation and culture dropped 8.58%, while health’s prices slipped 0.08%, the report found.
Monthly results
During December 2017, inflation rate for the CPI registered 0.44%.
The prices of transport, restaurants and hotel, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco went up 5.59%, 0.71%, and 0.18%, respectively, the DSC revealed.
On the other hand, the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages; and housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels segments decreased by 0.56% and 0.27%, respectively, in December.
The prices of both health and communications inched down 0.06% and 0.05%, the report concluded.
