Dubai’s new businesses grow 26% in October – DED

Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai's Department of Economic Development (DED) said that new issued business licences saw a 25.8% month-on-month increase in October, registering 1,898.

Commercial approvals topped the new issued licences with 62.1%, while professional, industrial commercial and tourism made up 35.5%, 1.4% and 1%, respectively, according to the DED's Business Registration and Licensing (BRL) sector.

Top nationalities that sought BRL services last month included Indians, Pakistanis, Egyptians, British, Bangladeshi, Jordanians, Saudis, Chinese, Jordanians, Sudanese,  and the Philippines in that order, according to Dubai's state-run agency's data.

Around 27,265% business registration and licensing transactions were completed in October, up 23.3% from the previous month, the Business Map digital platform of DED showed.

Renewals accounted for 12,989 of the total number last month, while 5,758 transactions were related to auto renewal via text messages.

DED further noted that Bur Dubai area topped the list of issued new licenses with 972, followed by Deira and Hatta with 918, and 8 licenses, consecutively.

Trade and repair services represented 32% of the fresh licences, followed by real estate, leasing & business services (26%), and building & construction (16%).
