Dubai – Mubasher: The first edition of the Global Investment in Aviation Summit "GIAS 2019" will take place in Dubai between 28 and 30 January 2019.
The three-day event will host aviation ministers and heads of civil aviation authorities from around the world as well offer an ideal platform for aviation ministers, airline companies and professionals to keep them up-to-date with the latest developments in the airline industry.
GIAS will see the attendance of UAE economy minister and chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri; chairman of Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation Sheikh Salman Al Sabah; and Bahrain’s minister of transportation and telecommunication Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, along with Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) chairman Abdul Hakim bin Mohammed Suleiman Al Tamimi.
Participants also include the president of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu, along with other decision makers in the aviation sector.
"The summit coincides with the remarkable achievement of increasing the number of passengers through Dubai international airport to reach over one billion, as the milestone was announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE vice president, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, as well as holding partnerships that would support investment in aviation,” Al Mansouri said, noting that hosting such an event reflects UAE’s leading regional role in the aviation sector, which is a key pillar in enriching the national economy.
“The participation of aviation ministers and heads of air transport agencies and airline companies, as well as industry leaders and businessmen from all around the world, is a testament of the importance of GIAS,” Mohammed Al Suwaidi, director-general of GCAA, commented.
He added that the UAE witnessed a huge growth in the past few years, with its aviation sector contributing significantly to cementing its position as one of the leading countries regarding providing the highest quality services in the region.
The event will also allow ministers and professionals to gain insights into investment opportunities available in local, regional and global aviation markets, focusing on guiding investments towards six sectors, including aircraft maintenance, manufacturing and supply, aircraft engineering and technology, defence aviation, duty-free markets and airline catering industry.
