Dubai – Mubasher: The process of establishing Dubai’s tourist island, which is located near to Burj Al Arab, will begin sometime towards the end of 2017, Albayan newspaper reported, citing unnamed sources.
The project is progressing according to schedule, the sources told the newspaper.
In mid-March, the UAEs’ vice president, prime minister, and Dubai ruler Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum launched a hotel and luxury project in Dubai, which is currently being developed by Wasl Asset Management Group.
Located on an artificial island near the Burj Al Arab hotel, the project covers a total area of 1 million square feet.
Wasl’s portfolio currently includes 5,500 hotel rooms. Following the completion of the project, Wasl will add 11,000 more rooms to its portfolio, according to a data published on the company’s official website.
Earlier this month, the emirate announced plans to develop an AED 6.3 billion ($1.7 billion) tourist resort situated on two man-made islands. The project will be built on either side of the luxury sail-shaped Burj Al Arab hotel.
This project is considered the latest development by the emirate, which seeks to attract 20 million visitors a year by 2020, when it will host the World Expo 2020 exhibition.
