Dubai – Mubasher: The e-payment in Arab world levelled up 22% year-on-year during 2016, a recent report issued by Pay Fort revealed.
The total value of commodities and services which were bought through e-buying in the main seven countries of this field reached $30.4 billion in 2016, compared to $24.9 billion in 2015.
The UAE ranked first in terms of the cash value of e-payment purchases made and its growth with $12.4 billion, showing an annual increase of 21%.
Saudi Arabia with registered $8.3 billion of transactions and 27% growth, while Egypt’s transactions amounted to $6.2 billion with 22% increase.
Year-on-year, the Saudi e-pay growth rate in aviation reached 21%, while it stood at 36% in travel and tourism.
Egypt led the region countries in terms of online shopping with a 32% increase in e-payments, while the UAE e-payment grew 36% in the entertainment and events sectors.
