EBRD provides loan to Egypt’s El-Roda

Mubasher: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in partnership with the European Union (EU) and Italy, is providing a loan to El-Roda Company for Agricultural Development.

The aim is to improve competitiveness and establishing stronger value chains to the Egyptian producer and exporter of fruits and vegetables that specialises in grapes.

The loan will help acquire new grape varieties, along with irrigation systems and other machinery required for their cultivation.

Moreover, the Egyptian company will become more competitive on the market by adding a new, patented type of grape that offers higher margins compared with current products, the EBRD said in a statement.

The loan agreement is part of the Trade and Competitiveness Programme funded by the EU, which helps SMEs to introduce new products, improve standards and enhance links with suppliers and buyers.
