EEHC inks EGP 87.5m contracts for developing control centres

Cairo – Mubasher: State-run Egyptian Electricity Holding Co (EEHC) has signed an EGP 87.5 million deal with two global consulting firms to develop control centres across Egypt.

Belgium’s DNV GP and Germany’s Lahmeyer International have been awarded the contract to develop four control centres in Cairo and a centre in the coastal governorate of Alexandria, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

This comes within the framework of the electricity ministry’s plan to develop control centres at power distribution firms through setting up 14 centres across the North African country in two phases.

The first phase will cover companies in Cairo, Alexandria, and the Canal, while the second phase will include the rest of the distribution companies.

The consulting contracts were signed at a value of EGP 87.5 million and to be implemented in 21 months starting the signing date, chairman of EEHC Gaber Desouky said.

The development of control centres is set for completion by the end of 2019, he indicated.
