EETC inks $9.9m deals to replace overhead transmission lines in FY19/20

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has signed two contracts worth $9.92 million to replace overhead transmission lines with aluminium conductors as part of the country’s plan for fiscal year 2019/2020, Akhbar El-Yom reported on Wednesday.

The first deal was signed with Transrail Lighting Limited Company to manufacture and supply 2,000 tonnes of aluminium conductors to replace overhead transmission lines at a capacity of 66 kilovolt (kv) and 220 kv, EETC's chairman, Sabah Mashaly, said.

At a cost of $4.96 million, the project will be financed by EETC over a supply period of six months as of the date of award.  

The second contract, signed with Apar Industries Limited Company, involves the manufacture and supply of 2,000 tonnes of aluminium conductors at a value of $4.96 million to be financed by EETC from allocations for overhead transmission lines at a capacity of 66 kv and 200 kv.
