Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian Electricity Transmission Co. (EETC) will launch a bid for Egyptian and international firms to implement substations of the electricity link project with Sudan within days.
The Egyptian company will invite 10 companies to participate in the bid, including ABB Group, General Electric (GB), Siemens, State Grid Corporation of China, Schneider Electric, and Elsewedy Electric, sources at the state-run utility told Alborsa News.
Sources indicated that negotiations with banks and funding institutions are ongoing to finance Egypt’s share in the project, whose cost expected to reach up to $500 million.
Egyptian electricity minister Mohamed Shaker had previously projected that contracts regarding Egypt-Saudi Arabia power grid link to be signed within two months.
