EETC to offer 3rd tender for electric interconnection with Sudan

Cairo – Mubasher: Egypt Electricity Transmission Co. (EETC) is planning to launch an open tender in August to regional and international companies for the electric interconnection project with Sudan.

This is the third time EETC will launch the tender, having cancelled the previous one where only three companies had applied.

The last tender was cancelled as EETC had been searching for certain technical specifications and better financial options, informed sources told Al Mal newspaper.

They added that the Indian company that had bid in the previous tender did not have enough experience in the Egyptian electricity sector.

The first tender was launched in May, but was cancelled because only one company had applied. The second was launched at the end of the second month with only three applicants, namely: Orascom Construction, Elsewedy Electric, and India’s Larsen and Toubro (L&T).
