EGX benchmark drops 3.2% as blue chip weigh on market

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) indices drifted lower in Wednesday’s early trade weighed by the decline of the leading stocks.

The benchmark index EGX30 fell 3.2% or 195 points reaching the level of 5,902 points, 17 minutes after the start of today’s session.

The heavy weigh Commercial International Bank lost 4.3% reaching the price level of EGP 31.5.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 edged down 0.52% to 352.5 points, while the broader index EGX100 lost 1.06% to 703.7 points.

Similarly, the equal –weigh index EGX50 sagged 1.7% to 1,064 points.

Foreign and local investors stepped in as net buyers with EGP 650,000 and 2.7 million respectively while Arab investors came out as net sellers with EGP 3.4 million.

The market witnessed trading value of EGP 36.7 million.
