EGX benchmark gains 1.12%, equities up EGP 3.02m

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) moved higher on Wednesday, as the benchmark index EGX30 added 1.12% or 91.86 points to close at 8,291.51 points amid the gains of the leading stocks.

The market capitalization went up EGP 3.02 billion ($339.2 million) reaching EGP 419.95 million .

The blue chips of Commercial International Bank, Talaat Moustafa, EL Ezz Steel, EL Swedy Electric, Qalaa Holding, Pioneers and Sodic went up by 0.9% to 10%.

The index’s worst-performing constituents were Edita Food Industries, Amer Group, and Arabia Investments, after respectively shedding 8.8%, 3.0%, and 2.1%.

The small and medium – caps index EGX70 added 0.35% to 362.16 points, while the broader index EGX100 inched up 0.43% to 802.97 points.

The equal weighted index EGX50 went up 0.99% to 1,428.23 points.

The market witnessed 406.8 million shares changed hands worth EGP 1.04 billion.

Out of 168 stocks traded today, gainers outnumbered decliners by 93 to 47, while 28 stocks remained unchanged.

The local and Arab investors came as net buyers with EGP 78.6 million and EGP 59.1 million respectively, while foreign investors came as net sellers with EGP 137.7 million.
