EGX benchmark moves below 6,600 pts in early trade

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened on a mixed note on Wednesday, as the benchmark index EGX30 went down 0.14% or 10 points to the level of 6,598 points.

The heaviest weight Commercial International Bank inched down 0.36%, while Global Telecom, Juhayna and Orascom Construction sagged 0.49%, 0.13% and 1.8% respectively.

The stocks of SODIC and Heliopolis Housing surged 3.32% and 1.25% respectively after the news about teaming up for New Heliopolis City project.

The equal-weighted index EGX50 went up 0.38% to 1,132.5 points.

Similarly, the small and mid-cap index EGX70 gained 0.32% to 361.7 points, while the broader index EGX100 edged up 0.07% to 762.3 points.

Early trade turnover reached EGP 96 million, with 54 million shares changing hands, through more than 4,200 transactions.

Local and Arab investors came as net buyers with EGP 10 million and EGP 1.9 million respectively, while foreign investors came as net sellers with EGP 11.9 million.
