EGX benchmark surpasses 6,900 pts in early trade

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) benchmark index EGX30 moved above the level of 6,900 points in Wednesday’s early trade.

The benchmark added 1.6% to 6,905 points on the gains of blue chip stocks.

The stocks of Commercial International Bank, EFG-Hermes, Palm Hills, Qalaa Holding, Orascom Telecom Media, Orascom Construction Industries, Pioneers Holding and Amer Group advanced by 1% to 5.5%.

The small and mid - cap index EGX70 added 0.52% to 375 points, while the broader index EGX100 edged up 0.93% to 783 points.

Similarly, the equal-weighted index EGX50 gained 1.14% to 1.195.5 points.

The market's total turnover recorded EGP 67 million, with 52 million shares changed hand through 2,100 transactions.

Local and foreign investors came as net buyers with EGP 3.7 million and EGP 530,000 respectively, while Arab investors came as net buyers with EGP 4.2 million.
