EGX close down Sunday amid local, Arab selling

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Sunday in the red, pressured by local and Arab investors’ selling amid retreating liquidity.

The benchmark EGX30 index shed 0.49% or 67.6 points and closed the session at 13,616.04 points, while the EGX 100 slipped 0.04% to 1,435 points.

On the other hand, the EGX70 and equal weight EGX50 indices closed in the green, adding 0.62% and 0.53% to 529.57 points and 2,106.57 points, respectively.

Turnover amounted to EGP 680.3 million after 390.04 million shares changed hands through 20,460 transactions.

Orascom Construction, EFG Hermes, SODIC, Heliopolis Housing and Elsewedy Electric were among the top fallers on Sunday, losing between 2.13% and 1.21%.

The Commercial International Bank – Egypt’s (CIB) stock was also in the red, shedding 1.05% to EGP 83.65.

On the other hand, Porto Group, Amer Group, Cairo Oils, OTMT and Domty were among the top gainers, adding between 9.76% and 2.31%.

EGX market capitalisation lost EGP 1.4 billion and closed the session at 684.9 billion.

Egyptian and Arab investors were mostly sellers on Sunday, with EGP 27.5 million and EGP 281,400, respectively, while Foreigners were mostly buyers, with net purchases of EGP 27.82 million.
