EGX closes Monday down; EGX30 sheds 111 pts

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) saw a negative performance on Monday, pressured by local and foreign selling.

The benchmark EGX30 index closed 0.78% or 110.85 points down to the level of 14,072.92 points.

The EGX70 index dropped 1.13% to 775.9 points, while the EGX100 index slipped 0.71% to 1,752.12 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index shed 0.8% to 2,474.71 points.

Market capitalisation closed at EGP 774.39 billion, losing EGP 406.4 million.

Trading volume stood at 441.5 million shares exchanged through 35,300 transactions at a turnover of EGP 1.2 billion.

Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 53.8 million, while foreign and Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 25.4 million and EGP 28.4 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) fell 0.82% to EGP 77 at a turnover of EGP 96.5 million.
