EGX closes Monday near stable; market cap gains EGP 5bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Monday’s trading session on a mixed note amid Arab buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index rose 1.2% or 164.28 points to the level of 13,870.34 points.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank Egypt (CIB) added 1.22% to EGP 78 at a turnover of EGP 100.8 million.

Market capitalisation closed at EGP 769.6 billion, gaining EGP 5.08 billion.

The EGX70 index slipped 0.21% to 787.46 points, while the EGX100 index remained stable at 1,751.04 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index edged up 0.48% to 2,446 points.

Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 269.6 million, while foreign and Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 226.6 million and EGP 43 million, respectively.

Trading volume stood at 454.6 million exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.2 billion through 34,800 transactions.

Blue chips including Emaar Misr, Palm Hills, and Sixth of October for Development and Investment (SODIC) levelled up 9.83%, 7.73%, and 6.36%, respectively.
