EGX closes Sunday higher on foreign buying, market cap adds EGP 8bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Sunday’s trading session in green territory, encouraged by foreign buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index went up 42.05 points, or 1.38%, to finish the first session of the week at 16,142.72 points.

Market capitalisation closed at EGP 910.8  billion, gaining EGP 8.08 billion.

The small- and medium-cap EGX70 index added 0.78% to 800.75 points, while the broader EGX100 index rose 0.95% to 2057 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index advanced 1.35% to 2695 points.

The bourse’s trading volume stood at 92.9 million shares exchanged through 14,400 transactions at a turnover of EGP 466.9  billion.

Foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 34.5 million, while Arab and local traders were net sellers with EGP 19.5 million and EGP 15 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) leveled up 0.49% to EGP85.99  at a turnover of EGP 6.17 million.

Talaat Moustafa Group Holding’s (TMG Holding) stock topped blue-chip risers with 5.95%, followed by Sixth of October for Development and Investment’s (SODIC) stock which added 4.43%.

On the flipside, the stocks of Arab Cotton Ginning and Eastern Co. declined, 1.41% and 0.04%, respectively.
