EGX closes Thursday in green; market cap gains EGP 3.7bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Thursday’s trading session up, bolstered by foreign and Arab buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index rose 0.86% or 114.80 points to the level of 13,432.69 points.

The EGX70 index inched up 0.3% to 689.26 points, while the EGX100 index grew 0.46% to 1,564.69 points.

The equally-weighted EGX50 index added 1.49% to 2,102 points.

Traded volume reached 499.17 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.08 billion through 27,620 transactions.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 3.78 billion and closed at EGP 705.39 billion.

Blue chips including Egyptian resorts, Iron and Steel, and Citadel Capital levelled up 9.91%, 9.46%, and 7.03%, respectively.

On the other hand, Oriental Weavers tumbled 3.85%.

Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) ascended 0.12% to EGP 82.55, with a turnover of EGP 39.10 million.

Foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 78.28 million and EGP 598,800, respectively, while Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 78.8 million.
