EGX closes Tuesday higher despite CIB’s decline

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Tuesday’s trading session with a massive increase, encouraged by local purchases.

The benchmark index EGX30 added 1.52% or 201.49 points to finish the mid-week session at 13,436.11 points.

The EGX70 index for small and medium stocks went up 3.10% to 703.23 points.

The EGX100 index added 2.58% to 1,755.25 points, while the EGX50 index closed Tuesday 2.15% higher at 2,166 points.

The trading value amounted to EGP 1.18 billion after 313.5 million shares were exchanged through nearly 33,170 transactions.

Egyptian investors at the EGX executed purchase transactions at a value of EGP 93 million, while both Arab and foreign traders performed sell deals at a value of EGP 78.3 million and EGP 14.7 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) has declined by 0.48% to close the session at EGP 80.1, generating a total turnover of EGP 113.9 million.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 11.2 billion ($626,400) to close Tuesday at EGP 766.06 billion ($42.5 billion).
