EGX closes Tuesday on mixed note

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Tuesday’s trading session on a mixed note, as the benchmark index EGX30 lost 0.69% or 92.84 points, and closed at the level of 13,415.55 points.

EGX70 went up 0.93% to 628.10 points, while the broader index EGX100 added 0.01% and closed at 1,472.86 points.

On the other hand, the equal-weighted index EGX50 fell 0.91% to the level of 2,071.32 points.

The market capital closed at EGP 688.2 billion, losing EGP 2.3 billion.

Traded volumes reached 146.3 million shares, with a total turnover of EGP 522.17 million, through 15,800 transactions.

Foreign investors were inclined to sell with a net EGP 103.5 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers at EGP 95.7 million and EGP 7.8 million, respectively.

The Commercial International Bank (CIB), the stock with the heaviest weight in the main index, slipped 0.48% and closed at EGP 81.25.

Orascom Telecom led the declining stocks and dropped 15%, followed by Eastern Company and Emaar Misr with 6.66% and 3.23%.

On the other hand, Orascom Construction, Egyptian Iron and Steel, and Ezz Steel gained 1.27%, 0.99%, and 0.57%, respectively.
