EGX closes Tuesday on mixed note

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) finished Tuesday's trading session mixed, amid Arab and foreign buying and local selling.

The benchmark index EGX30 soared 214.77 points, or 1.28%, to close the mid-week session at 17,005 points.

The small and medium enterprise index EGX70 fell 0.10, reaching 852.66 points, while the broader EGX100 index decreased 0.25% to 2,183 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index rose 0.37% to 2,913 points.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 4.67 billion, closing at EGP 954.2 billion.

The bourse’s trading volume stood at 135.6 million shares exchanged through 18,500 transactions with a turnover of EGP 814.4 million.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 61.7 million, while foreign and Arab traders were net buyers with EGP 18.2 million and EGP 43.5 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank-Egypt’s (CIB) stock increased 1.61% to EGP 86.83, with a liquidity of EGP 79.9 million.

Juhayna Food Industries, Alexandria Mineral Oils Co (AMOC), and Eastern Co stocks levelled up 5.09%, 2.48%, and 2.17%, respectively.

On the flipside, Porto Group Holding’s stock was the worst performer with 3.33%, followed by Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding’s (OTMT) stock with 2.44%, and Emaar Misr’s stock with 1.84%.
