EGX deepens losses in week

Cairo-Mubasher: The indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) posted a negative performance in the week ended 19 May.

EGX30  index levelled down 0.27% or 21.03 points to reach 7,499.49 points this week as compared to 7,520.52 points a week ago.

CIB-Egypt dropped 2.5% to end the week at EGP 43.65.    

The benchmark index succeeded in rebounding to 7,700 points; however, it failed to reach above this level due to selling pressures which affected most of the blue chips, noted Ehab Said, head of technical analysis at Osool Securities Brokerage.

EGX70 ended the week at 366.13 points as compared to 370.66 points, losing 1.2% or 4.53 points in a week.

The analyst expected EGX30 to focus on new support levels at 7,330 and 7,270 points, while the EGX70 index is projected to have a support level at 363 points.

Market cap lost EGP 3 billion over the week to reach EGP 401.9 billion as compared to EGP 404.9 billion a week ago.

EGX100 retreated 1.2% or 9.45 points to reach 771.85 points as compared to 781.3 points in the previous week.

EGX50 fell by 1.84% or 26 points to 1,380.76 points, compared to 1,406.77 points in the past week.
