EGX ends Monday above 18,000 pts; market cap adds EGP 4.23bn

Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Monday’s trading session on a mixed note amid foreign buying against local and Arab selling.

The benchmark EGX jumped 182.61 points, or 1.02%, closing the session at 18,050.7 points.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 4.3 billion and closed at EGP 993.14 billion.

The small- and medium-caps EGX70 index dipped 0.28% to 863.24 points, and the broader EGX100 index inched down 0.04% to 2,273 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index added 0.79% to 3,087 points.

Trading volume on stocks reached nearly 377.4 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.8 billion through 34,800 transactions.

Foreign investors were mostly buyers, netting EGP 276.7 million, while Arab and Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 172.4 million and EGP 104.3 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) went up 0.91% to EGP 9.5, with a turnover of EGP 52.5 million.
