EGX ends Monday in green amid buoyant liquidity

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Monday’s trading session up, bolstered by foreign and Arab buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index edged up 0.38% or 57.98 points to 15,369.13 points.

The EGX70 index added 0.81% to 861.36 points, the highest level since October 2008, while the EGX100 index grew 0.59% to 2.042 points.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 index went up 0.43% to 2,737 points.

Trading volume stood at about 259.5 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.6 billion through 35,600 transactions.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) rose 1.77% to EGP 80.98 at a turnover of EGP 235.4 million.

Market capitalisation closed at EGP 865.6 billion, gaining EGP 6.59 billion.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 778.4 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 759.4 million and EGP 19 million respectively.
