Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) saw a bearish trend on Monday, dragged down by local selling.
The benchmark EGX30 index tumbled 0.97%, finishing the session at 15,685.95 points.
The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index shed 1.27% to 774.71 points, while the broader EGX100 index fell 1.31% to 1,967 points.
The equal-weighted EGX50 index went down 1.34% to 2,626 points.
Market capitalisation lost EGP 3.5 billion and closed at EGP 881.013 billion.
Trading volume amounted to 246.8 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.7 billion through 25,600 transactions.
Egyptian investors were mostly sellers, netting EGP 832.2 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 793.6 million and EGP 38.5 million, respectively.
