EGX ends Monday in red amid heavy liquidity

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Monday’s trading session with a sideways-to-declining performance.

The benchmark EGX30 index declined by 0.35% to close at 14,291 points.

In the meantime, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 index went down 0.74% to 544.57 points, while the broader EGX100 index fell by 0.55% to 1,427 points.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 index retreated 0.7% to 2,140 points.

Market capitalisation lost EGP 3.67 billion to EGP 753.08 billion on Monday, compared to EGP 756.75 billion on Sunday.

Trading volume reached 295.73 million securities exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.33 billion through 22,655 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 191.02 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 18.58 million and EGP 172.43 million, respectively.
