EGX ends Monday in red

Cairo – Mubasher: The indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Monday’s trading session down, pressured by local sell-off.

The benchmark EGX30 index inched down 0.02%, finishing the session at 14,815.95 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index fell 1.12% to 708.6 points, while the broader EGX100 index tumbled 0.96% to 1,787 points.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX50 index slipped 0.26% to 2,398 points.

Trading volume amounted to 226.4 million shares exchanged through 26,400 transactions at a turnover of EGP 904.9 million.

Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 517.2 billion, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 515.4 million and EGP 2 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) dipped 0.06% to EGP 71 at a turnover of EGP 77.9 million.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 714.2 million and closed the session at EGP 822.11 billion.
