EGX ends Sunday in red; market cap sheds EGP 3.3bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Sunday’s trading session in red territory, dragged down by Arab sell-off.

The benchmark EGX30 index shed 112.52 points, or 0.73%, finishing the session at 15,303 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX 70 index slipped 0.33% to 750.09 points, while the broader EGX100 index tumbled 0.5% to 1,917 points.

Likewise, the equal-weighted EGX 50 index went down 0.84% to 2,614 points.

Trading volume amounted to around 106.2 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 384.5 million through 13,090 transactions.

Arab investors were mostly sellers, netting EGP 15.5 million, while foreign and Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 11.3 million and EGP 4.10 million, respectively.

Market capitalisation lost EGP 3.3 billion and closed at EGP 863.7 billion.
