EGX ends Sunday mixed, market cap sheds EGP 1.9bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended Sunday's trading session on a mixed note amid buying by foreign investors, and selling by Egyptian and Arab traders.

The main index EGX30 tumbled 95.59 points, or 0.57%, to close at 16,782 points.

The EGX70 index edged up 0.17% to 853 points, while the EGX100 index rose 0.08% to 2,183 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index went down 0.05% to 2,897 points.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank's (CIB) stock fell 2.3% to finish at EGP 85.08, with a trading value of EGP 50 million.

The bourse’s trading volume stood at 157.9 million shares changed hands through 16,200 transactions, generating a turnover of EGP 613.5 million.

Market capitalisation lost EGP 1.9 billion to close at EGP 946.4 billion.

Foreign traders were net buyers with EGP 32.5 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 29.9 million, and EGP 2.5 million, respectively.

Pioneers Holding Company for Financial Investment’s stock was the best performer with 3.02%, followed by Orascom Telecom Media and Technology Holding’s (OTMT) stock with 2.41%, and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Egypt’s (ADIB) stock with 2.16%.

On the flipside, the stocks of Amer Group Holding Co, Heliopolis Company for Housing and Development, and CIB levelled down 3.03%, 2.31%, and 2.3%, respectively.
