EGX ends Sunday mixed; market cap sheds EGP 1.9bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Sunday’s trading session on a mixed note.

The benchmark EGX30 index edged up 15.63 points, or 0.11%, finishing the first session of the week at 14,819.6 points.

The small- and medium-caps EGX70 index slipped 0.42% to 716.64 points, while the broader EGX100 index shed 0.39% to 1,804 points.

Moreover, the equal-weighted EGX50 index added 0.9% to 2,404 points.

Trading volume amounted to around 223.9 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 703.6 billion through 23,950 transactions.

Egyptian investors were mostly sellers, netting EGP 72.7 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 47.3 million and EGP 25.4 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) rose 1.1% to EGP 70.95, with a turnover of EGP 18.3 million.

Market capitalisation closed at EGP 821.4 billion and lost EGP 1.9 billion.
