EGX ends Sunday mixed amid weak liquidity

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Sunday’s trading session on a mixed note amid foreign investors’ selling.

The benchmark EGX30 index closed up 0.83% or 122.19 points at 14,790.78 points.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) rose 1.86% to EGP 75.4 at a turnover of EGP 30.12 million.

Trading volume stood at 121.6 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 428.4 million through 17,000 transactions.

The small- and medium-caps EGX70 index slipped 0.89% to 818.11 points and the broader EGX100 index dipped 0.38% to 1,936.32 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index inched up 0.06% to 2,548 points.

Foreign traders were mostly net sellers, netting EGP 9.16 million, while Egyptian and Arab traders were net buyers with EGP 3.9 million and EGP 5.17 million, respectively.

Market capitalisation closed at EGP 813.8 billion, losing EGP 1.6 billion.
