EGX ends Sunday near-stable, closes 2017 above 15,000 pts

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Sunday, the last trading session of 2017, near stable or at a slight rise amid weak turnover.

The benchmark EGX30 index edged up 0.01% or 2.17 points and closed the session and year at 15,019.14 points.

Meanwhile, the small and medium-sized stock index, the EGX70, grew 0.39% to 827.66 points, while the broader EGX100 added 0.59% to 1,971.76 points. Similarly, the equal-weight EGX50 index increased 0.28% to 2,569 points.

Turnover amounted to EGP 488 million after 114.8 million shares changed hands through 16,330 transactions.

Foreign and Arab investors were buyers, netting EGP 13 million and EGP 12 million, respectively, while Egyptians were sellers, netting EGP 25 million.

EGX heavyweight, the Commercial International Bank – Egypt (CIB) fell 0.61% to EGP 77, generating EGP 29.3 million in turnover.

Market capitalisation declined by EGP 897 million to close at EGP 824.9 billion.
