EGX ends Sunday on mixed note

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Sunday’s trading session mixed amid foreign and Arab buying and local selling.

The benchmark EGX30 index increased 14.5 points, or 0.09%, to finish at 16,648.47 points.

The small- and medium-cap EGX70 index fell 0.61% to 853.13 points, while the broader EGX100 index edged down 0.07% to 2,177 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index decreased 0.25% to 2,889 points.

The EGX’s market capitalisation lost EGP 168.15 million, to close at EGP 948.4 billion.

The bourse’s trading volume stood at 100.2 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 460.6 million through 13,700 transactions.

Egyptian traders were net sellers with EGP 308.6 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 54.5 million and EGP 254 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) declined 1.14% to EGP 84.22, with a turnover of EGP 34.09 million.

Eastern Co’s stock led gainers after jumping 7.69%, followed by Emaar Misr’s stock with 4.41%, and Porto Group Holding’s stock with 3.45%.

On the other hand, Abu Qir Fertilizers, Alexandria Mineral Oils Co (AMOC), and Juhayna Food Industries stocks fell 2.68%, 2.48%, and 2.4%, respectively.
