EGX ends Thursday below 14,000 pts

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Thursday’s trading session on a negative note.

The benchmark EGX30 index fell by 0.99%, finishing the session at 13,997 points on Thursday, compared to 14,137 points on Wednesday.

Likewise, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 index retreated 0.87% to close at 597.28 points, while the broader EGX100 index declined by 0.97% to 1,524 points.

Meanwhile, the equal-weighted EGX50 index dropped by 1.16% to 2,087 points.

Market capitalization plunged by EGP 6.58 billion to EGP 750.07 billion on Thursday, compared to EGP 756.65 billion on Wednesday.

Trading volume registered 212.34 million shares at a turnover of EGP 1.21 billion through nearly 18,900 transactions.

Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 263.81 million and EGP 43.21 million, respectively, while foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 307.03 million.
