EGX ends Thursday in decline

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Thursday's trading session in negative territory, dragged down by foreign sell-off.

The benchmark EGX30 index shed 184.31 points, or 1.13%, to close at 16,125.34 points, while the small- and medium-size companies index, EGX70, went down 0.47% to 800.23 points.

EGX100 lost 0.65% to 2,034 points, while the EGX50 index decreased by 0.9% to 2,719 points.

Market capitalisation reached EGP 898.5 billion, its lowest level since March.

Foreigners were mostly sellers, with net sales of EGP 178.8 million, while Egyptians and Arabs were mostly buyers, with net purchases of EGP 144.4 million and EGP 34.4 million, respectively.

Trading volume amounted to 199.9 million shares, while liquidity hit EGP 830.22 million.

The heavyweight Commercial Bank International (CBI) lost 1.13% to EGP 84.75 with a turnover of EGP 63.33 million. Eastern Company tumbled 3.04%.

On the other hand, Telecom Egypt added 0.58%, as AMOC and Citadel Capital inched up 0.07% and 0.02%, respectively.
