EGX ends Thursday in green; market cap gains EGP 5bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Thursday’s trading session in green territory on the back of non-Arab buying.

The benchmark EGX30 index closed at 16,472.28 points, rising 88.21 points, or 0.54%, backed by the Commercial International Bank (CIB).

The heavyweight CIB grew 0.82% to EGP 84.5 at a turnover of EGP 135.4 million.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 5.1 billion and closed at EGP 957.9 billion.

The EGX70 index climbed 1.22% to 894.81 points, while the EGX100 index rose 1.47% to 2,243 points.

Trading volume amounted to about 264.2 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.53 billion through 32,900 transactions.

Foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 189.8 million, while Arab and Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 90.01 million and EGP 99.7 million, respectively.
