EGX ends Thursday in red; market cap loses EGP 7.6bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Thursday's trading session on a negative note, pressured by Arab and foreign selloffs. 

The main EGX30 index fell by 0.62% to end at 11,612 points, while the small- and mid-cap EGX70 EWI retreated by 2.67% to 2,164 points.

Likewise, the EGX100 EWI slid by 1.98% to 3,146 points and the EGX50 EWI dropped by 1.44% to end at 2,038 points.

The market cap value decreased by EGP 7.6 billion to close at EGP 735.21 billion on Thursday from EGP 742.82 billion on Wednesday. 

Local investors were net buyers with EGP 381.27 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers with EGP 5.81 million and EGP 375.45 million, respectively. 

The market's turnover reached EGP 1.04 billion after 292.47 million shares were exchanged through about 33,890 transactions.
