Cairo – Mubasher: Egyptian sell-offs weighed on the indices of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) on Tuesday, the last trading session of the week.
The benchmark EGX30 index fell 222.66 points, or 1.68%, finishing the session at 13,023.73 points.
Market capitalisation lost EGP 11.3 billion and closed at EGP 736.9 billion.
The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index plummeted 2.56% to 668.08 points, whereas the broader EGX100 index tumbled 2.47% to 1,677.7 points.
The equal-weighted EGX50 index went down 1.72% to 2,033.16 points.
Trading volume amounted to nearly 185 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 735.4 million through 22,300 transactions.
Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 161.4 million, while Foreign and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 10.6 million and EGP 861,000, respectively.
The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) fell 1.25% to EGP 80, with a turnover of EGP 40.4 million.
Pioneers Holding’s stock topped gainers with 2.65%, while Juhayna led losers with 7.3%.
