EGX ends Thursday mixed; market cap sheds EGP 30.5bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Thursday’s trading session on a mixed note.

The benchmark EGX30 index has changed its upward trend and slipped 55.75 points, or 0.41%, finishing the session at 13,675.37 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index dipped 0.13% to 387.44 points, whereas the broader EGX100 index shed 0.21% to 1,723 points.

On the other hand, the equal-weighted EGX50 index inched up 0.06% to 2,231 points.

Trading volume amounted to around 320.6 million shares exchanged through 33,330 transactions at a turnover of EGP 1.3 billion.

Egyptian investors were mostly buyers, netting EGP 143.68 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 53.98 million and EGP 89.69 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) fell 1.91% to EGP 79.10, with a turnover of EGP 46.4 million.

Market capitalisation lost EGP 30.5 billion and closed at EGP 763.6 billion.
