EGX ends Tuesday in green on stamp duty increase cancellation

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Tuesday’s trading session on a mixed note.

The benchmark EGX30 index went up 1.3%, finishing the session at 14,389 points, on the back of the ministry of finance’s announcement to cancel the third increase of the stamp duty tax which was scheduled to be applied in June.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index fell by 1.2% to close at 633.23 points, while the broader EGX100 index retreated 0.91% to 1,613 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index edged down 0.08% to close at 2,202.75 points.

Trading volume amounted to nearly 72.4 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 538.6 million through around 11,800 transactions.

Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 74.7 million, while Egyptian and foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 13.5 million and EGP 61.2 million, respectively.
