EGX ends Tuesday mixed; market cap adds EGP 2.5bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Tuesday’s trading session on a mixed note.

The benchmark EGX30 index added 65.17 points, or 0.47%, finishing the session at 13,976.52 points.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) shed 0.34% to EGP 84, with a turnover of EGP 96.08 million.

Global Telecom’s stock led rising blue-chip stocks with 9.93%, while Orascom Construction topped losers with 3.2%.

Market capitalisation closed the session at EGP 785.6 billion, gaining EGP 2.5 billion.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index remained stable at 685.9 points, whereas the broader EGX100 index dipped 0.14% to 1,724 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index levelled up 0.48% to 2,243 points.

Meanwhile, trading volume amounted to nearly 219.6 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.14 billion through 29,900 transactions.

Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 105.88 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 105.2 million and EGP 666,700, respectively.
