EGX ends Tuesday mixed; market cap gains EGP 6bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Tuesday’s trading session on a mixed note, coinciding with the second day of Egypt’s presidential election.

The benchmark EGX30 index rose 166.09 points, or 0.97%, to 17,270 points.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 5.99 billion, closing the mid-week session at EGP 969.9 billion.

The EGX70 index dipped 0.10% to 869.77 points, while the EGX100 index edged up 0.42% to 2,237 points.

Trading volume reached nearly 699.3 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 2.29 billion through 41,350 transactions.

Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 24.1 million, while Egyptian and foreign traders were net buyers with EGP 10.9 million and EGP 13.2 million, respectively.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) levelled up 0.56% to EGP 88.26 with a turnover of EGP 100.8 million.

SODIC led top gainers with 9.96%, followed by Citadel Capital and Orascom telecom which rose 9.73% and 9.46%, respectively.

On the negative side, Juhayna Food Industries topped declining blue chips with 6.38%, followed by Alexandria Mineral Oils (AMOC) and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) which fell 2.85% and 2.14%, respectively.
