EGX ends Tuesday mixed; market cap sheds EGP 554m

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Tuesday’s trading session on a mixed note.

The benchmark EGX30 index has changed its early upward trend and shed 59.5 points, or 0.4%, finishing the session at 14,886 points.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) dropped 2.37% to EGP 70, with a turnover of EGP 153.4 million.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 index edged up 0.06% to 716.25 points, whereas the broader EGX100 index inched up 0.03% to 1,806 points.

The equal-weighted EGX50 index added 0.49% to 2,469 points.

Trading volume amounted to nearly 424.6 million shares exchanged at a turnover of EGP 1.11 billion through 33,600 transactions.

Market capitalisation closed the session at EGP 827.93 billion, losing EGP 554 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 78.8 million, while foreign and Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 77.7 million and EGP 1.09 million, respectively.
